The Safety Award reflects an industry leading performance by the teamASHBY DE LA ZOUCH, 31 October 2008 - CEVA Logistics and E.ON have won the ‘Safety' Award at the celebrated Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport's Annual Awards for Excellence. Andy Fitt, Operations Director, CEVA Logistics and Malcolm Russell, E.ON Networks Logistics Manager collected the award from HRH Princess Anne, during a prestigious awards event held at London's Marriott Hotel.
The judging panel commented that "CEVA working in partnership with E.ON, has realised a significant drop in injuries over the last two years. The standard approach was challenged and a desire to move to a behaviour safety approach adopted. Assisted by the larger organisation achieving OHSAS 18001 accreditation, CEVA Logistics adopted a structured approach to tackling lost time injuries. Specific management targets were set to ensure a minimum number of safety initiatives were implemented including ‘Wednesday Safety Days'; Never Turn a Blind Eye and a novel "Moments " campaign to promote employee involvement and risk assessment as standard".
On behalf of E.ON CEVA manages a distribution centre in Nottinghamshire, and a number of satellite distribution depots; distribution to emergency stores; deliveries of pick to order material; trunking to regional depots and a supplier collection service of road side signs and barriers. The service also extends to installation of some materials on behalf of customers. Malcolm Russell, E.ON Networks Logistics Manager said "We are very proud of our excellent safety record. Safety is paramount in our industry and this award is a huge testament to the professionalism of everyone involved, it is also testament to the way in which the two organisations work together in order to achieve a common safety objective. CEVA and E.ON focused on maximising safety, service excellence and end-to-end supply chain integration to optimise the value delivered to E.ON's customers (4.9 million households)."
Andy Fitt, Operations Director, CEVA Logistics commented: "The CILT safety award reflects an industry leading performance by the team and a culture of best practice throughout the supply chain. E.ON is at the forefront of the utilities industry when it comes to operational excellence."
